Edinburgh - Day 2 - Edinburgh Castle, Highland Photos, Scottish Parliament

Today, we started with touring the Edinburgh Castle.  So much of the history of Scotland tied up in fighting and defending this ground.  You really do get a sense that a piece of the soul of the country is there.

Firing the one-oclock gun!

After seeing all there was to see in the castle, we popped in for some highland dress-up photos.  This has become something of a tradition on our sabbatical trips (we did the same in Yellowstone and in Prague).  It's campy, but it's fun.

Then, we walked down the Royal Mile and went to the Scottish Parliament for our guided tour.  It was really interesting.  The Scottish people are proud of their parliament and the building they created for it to do its work.

Then, it was back to the apartment to eat dinner in and to watch England play Croatia in the World Cup semifinals.  England lost... heartbreak!  So, we wont be in London on a day where they might have been playing in the finals.  Bummer.  Still fun to watch.

Tomorrow, we're seeing part of Hadrian's Wall on the way to York.
