Barcelona - Day 1 - morning run around Sagrada Familia, Park Güell, Casa Batllo

7:30am

Got up early this morning
sunrise view from our apartment
and talked Elodie into doing a quick run with me.

It was a bit off my typical effort, but I had a cool running buddy.

The payoff for her was a trip to the corner bakery on the way back

We're going to Park Güell this morning, once the rest of the family gets up and ready.

9:10am
We leave to head to Park Güell, walking up the hill from our apartment.

The park was designed as an upscale estate enclave, but when the commercial conditions made that unviable, it was left as a private park and then eventually converted to a public park that showcases Gaudi's work.

After we left Park Güell, we had a nice walk downhill through the city

and then we had lunch at Vinitus.  A nice selections of tapas.

Next, we went to Casa Batlló, another Gaudi project.   This was remodeled by Gaudi and served as a private residence.  It's still privately owned, but now operates as a tourable monument to to Gaudi's work.

After Casa Battó, we split up.  The girls went to do some shopping and Charlie and I headed back to the apartment for some down time.

Tonight, we're having dinner in the apartment.  Planning for a low-key evening.

Tomorrow, we're going to see Sagrada Familia.
