Murillo de Gállego - Whitewater rafting

11:15pm
Today started out with us leaving the apartment in Barcelona to hit the road to Murillo de Gállego to do some whitewater rafting.  At one point, we thought we'd squeeze in a short visit to Montserrat along the way, but decided that at the last minute to get more sleep and have a later start out of Barcelona.

It was about a 4 hour drive to Murillo de Gállego (including a non-descript stop for lunch).
So glad my kids managed to have fun in the car on long drives!

Lots of scenic hill towns as we moved into the country.

Once we got to Murillo de Gállego, we got "river ready" and then enjoyed a 8km run on the Rio Gállego that included one Class 4 rapid and several smaller ones.

We opt'd to stay in the village for the night.  It's pretty small.  I think we are the only people staying in our inn.  The village is up on a hill, but the only places to eat are back down on the highway so we walked down and had an enjoyable dinner at this open air bar and watched the Spain v Iran World Cup game with the locals.

Afterwards, we took a brief walk in the village before turning in for the night.
Might be more cats than people in this village.

This isn't Murillo de Gállego, this is the village of Riglos as seen from our window in Murillo de Gállego.  Their view of Murillo de Gállego back across the river probably looks similar. :-)

It was a great day.

Tomorrow, it's on to Pamplona!
