Ferry to Portsmouth, Stonehenge, Bath

Today started early... up at 6:30am to shower, dress, pack up the car and get on a 8:30am ferry from Caen to Portsmouth. http://www.brittany-ferries.co.uk/guides/ports/Caen  The drive to the port was uneventful.  After waiting in a line or two and a couple of passport checks, we drove the car onto the boat and plopped in a cabin a reserved for the crossing,  It takes a little over 5 hours and we gain an hour with the time change, so we arrive around 1:15pm.  I'm sitting in the "tea room" working on this entry.  The four-berth cabin seems a little crowded with the rest of the family sprawled out in it.

Five-plus hours later, we pulled into Portsmouth.  The ferry ride was uneventful, but it took a little getting used to driving on the "wrong" side of the street.  I managed, however.  TomTom even threw in a bonus "shortcut" to avoid some motorway traffic that involved narrow single lane roads and plenty of roundabouts so I wouldn't get too cocky.

From Portsmouth, we drove to Stonehenge and toured the monument.  It was impressive, and belongs on the list of things to see... but at the end of the day, they are just some rocks in a field.

From Stonehenge, we drove to Bath where we have an apartment for the night.  It's a 3 story townhouse (http://www.dreamstaysbath.co.uk/details/trim-street-harrys-townhouse/488408) that's pretty cool.

At one point, we were planning to leave Bath early tomorrow and hit Stratford-upon-Avon on the way to Wales.  But today we kind of a long day (https://goo.gl/maps/Sen5FVopyNt) and so we made an audible to save Shakespeare's birthplace for another trip and rest up instead tomorrow morning.  That gives a few more hours to enjoy the apartment here in Bath, as well as catchup on some rest.

We hit a local supermarket, bought stuff for dinner and breakfast in the apartment and had dinner in.  Tomorrow we'll do the drive to Wales, without much in the way of stops.
